When I first heard about coworking back in 2017, it was still in its earliest iterations here in Portland. The industry has come a long way since then — and I still love what we’re building at VIDA as much as I did the moment I had the idea for it.

Every August, coworking spaces around the world pause to celebrate something worth celebrating: the shift away from isolated, rigid work and toward flexible, community-driven workspaces. That’s what International Coworking Day is all about — and in 2026, VIDA Coworking is turning it into an entire week of free access for the Portland community, because one day never felt like quite enough.

When Is International Coworking Day 2026?

International Coworking Day falls on Sunday, August 9, 2026. Since Sunday isn’t exactly a typical workday for most of us, VIDA Coworking is celebrating the following week instead — Monday, August 10 through Friday, August 14 — with free day passes at both Portland-area locations.

What Is International Coworking Day, Really?

International Coworking Day marks the global growth of the shared workspace movement — a celebration of the community, flexibility, and collaboration that coworking spaces bring to independent workers, small businesses, freelancers, and remote teams. It’s a chance for spaces like VIDA to open their doors to people who haven’t experienced coworking yet, and for longtime members to celebrate what keeps them coming back.

At VIDA, we’ve built our business — nearly seven years and counting across NE Portland and Beaverton — around the idea that work works better when it’s flexible, beautiful, and connected to real community. This week is our biggest celebration of that philosophy yet, and we truly believe coworking helps Make Life/Work for everyone — not just our members, but this whole city.

For one full week, anyone can drop into VIDA Coworking for free — no membership required, just a quick and free sign-up.
