We’re making and planting “Seed Bombs” to teach kiddos about our local food system.

Here in Portland, Oregon, we love honoring nature. That includes teaching kids about our local food system and the importance of wholesome nutritious foods. But the key for little ones is to make it fun and hands-on!

To help parents do just that, VIDA Coworking is hosting our first-ever Market Sprouts Club activity on Saturday, June 17 between 8:30-1:30 p.m. We’d love to have you and your family join us at the Beaverton Farmer’s Market.

Here’s what we have planned!

About Market Sprouts

Market Sprouts is a kids club created in partnership with the Beaverton Farmer’s Market to allow kids to engage with local farmers and learn about where the food on their dinner table comes from. Kids can join the club by filling out a Market Sprouts Passport and filling it up with stickers they receive at activities throughout the market season.

VIDA Coworking jumped at the chance to host one of the first events of the 2023 season. We can’t wait to help further Market Sprouts’ mission “to inspire children to take part in their local food system, enjoy eating nutritious foods and empower them to make healthy choices.”

Our Event

VIDA Beaverton Community Director Caitlin Crocker brings her expertise in early childhood learning to the Market Sprout booth, helping local kids construct and plant Seed Bombs. Seed Bombs are clusters of seeds that will blossom and bloom into colorful plants loved by bees and nature. By growing the Seed Bombs, the kids will create ecosystems that foster local flora and help save bees.

Seed Bombs are a great way to get children of every age and stage interested in food, nature and healthy choices. It also uses earthwork to create emotional-literacy tools, gears up the future generation to combat climate change, and celebrates our local Portland community. Plus, the activity provides kids the simple joy of watching living things grow!

We’d love have you and your little ones join us at the Beaverton Market on June 17! Let’s get their hands dirty during planting and learning about nature and nutrition. Plus, in addition to VIDA hosting this special event, there will be more than 100 local vendors there, ranging from fresh fruit and vegetable farm stands to candy makers.

The brand-new VIDA Coworking Beaverton, Oregon, will soon open at 9400 SW Beaverton Hillsdale Highway. For more information, or to be the first to know when pre-sales go live, join our Beaverton Waitlist now.
